Film Screening & DiscussionPoint Of Attack (2004)
"Point of Attack" is a documentary film that tells personal stories of the internment-like jailing of large numbers of people post-911, based solely on race, religion, and/or nationality. Many of these people were abducted from their homes in the middle of the night with no warrant, no charges, and no right to a lawyer. Their terrified children and spouses were not even told where they were being taken. Today, people from East Asian, Arab, and Muslim communities are still being abducted in the middle of the night, many legally awaiting pending immigration cases. These working-- family providers often have to bankrupt themselves to raise bail to get out of a prison they were put in for no reason. Are Immigration Enforcement Officers not required to know who is, and who is not legally here before they tear them away from their families? Are you guilty before proven innocent? Is this Your America? Unless you are full-blooded American Indian, or your ancestors were forced here from the slave trade—we are all immigrants. America means equality and justice for all. "Point of Attack" should be seen by all of us to remind us of how fragile our freedom can be. |
